Nice Try

While it's nice that Emily Yoffie wants to stick up for her fellow independent voters, the political science data pretty clearly shows that on average independent and in particular undecided-until-the-last-minute independent voters are less informed than their partisan neighbors and more likely to vote based on trivialities such as a candidate's height, speech impediment, or bad hairstyle. In fact, often the reason they are independent in the first place is that they simply don't understand what the two major parties stand for.
